Mu’ meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah’s Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers or sisters has asked:
To what extent is use of “taweez” and amulets permitted in Islam. My mom recently gifted these taweez. In Islam, if I’m right there is a concept of”evil-eye” appears to be prevalent. It is quite possible for a person to be under the influence of this “evil eye.” What I want to ask about is whether the wearing of this “tawwez” is allowed or not. About the evil eye I’m sure Allah protects me. However, Allah’s Prophet(SAW) was under spell. To break the spell , the Prophet(SAW) used the Quran to dispel the spell. What is the best option I could follow to avoid the fate. Family members who know me can and try to take my family away using black magic. Can you please refer somehting from the Quran that can help me.
Please reply as soon as possible.
Answer:
Evil Eye black magic Amulet
in the Name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and beg His forgiveness. Whoever Allah has a hand on cannot mislead anyone, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none will be able to guide them in the right direction. We have evidence that there isn’t anyone (no idol, no individual who is dead, no grave, not a prophet or imam, not even a dai!) that is worthy of worship except Allah Alone. We acknowledge that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and seal of His Messengers.
Your Frage: To what extent do you think that the use of “taweez” and amulets allowed in Islam.
Allah (saws) the Messenger Allah (saws) strictly prohibited the followers to wear any kind of taaweedh or amulet on any part of their body. Anyone who wears an amulet or a Taaweedh, starts seeking his trust and help from this taaweedh, instead of placing his complete life and faith to his faith in the Lord of all Worlds!
The best advice is to worship, invoke, believe and put one’s complete and total trust in no one but Allah Subhanah God of the Heavens and the earth and everything else that is between!
If a person of faith, who sincerely believes in Allah in the Last Day, seeks any protection in any aspect of existence, the only thing he has to do is find refuge in Allah and pray to Him for all his needs. Since Allah alone is the owner of all strength and power and harm and no trouble can come to any person without the permission granted by Allah Subhanah. Therefore, a believer must be able to put all of his faith in Allah Subhanah Alone.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verse 160:
If Allah supports you, nothing can be able to stop you. If He forsakes you who is in the future to assist you? In Allah then let believers put their trust.
Allah affirms He says in Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab Verse 3:
And put your trust to Allah Alone; and enough is Allah to take care of the affairs.
Allah is revealed In the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 51:
Declare: “Nothing will happen to us unless Allah has decreed for us”He is our protector” and to Allah let the believers put their trust.
Uqbah ibn ‘Amir recounts in his book that Messengers of Allah (saws) declared: “If anyone wears an amulet (taaweedh) then may Allah not assist the wearer in achieving his desire. If anyone is wearing a seashell around his neck is it not a blessing from Allah? Allah give him no peace.”
Narrated by Ahmad and Al-Hakim.
An amulet (tamimah, taaweedkh, etc.) is a string of shells or beads that Arabs used to put around their children’s necks believing that it would shield against the evil eye. Islam completely shattered this and all other superstitious practices. It was the messenger of Allah (saws) described it as shirk in its most explicit form as well as invoked the curse of Allah on those wearing a taaweedh, seeking its protection.

It was reported by Ibn Mas’ud , that once when he walked into his home, he saw his wife carrying a knotted item around her neck. He took it away then broke it. Then he said: ‘The family of Abdullah has grown so arrogant that they associate with Allah who has given no authority.’ I’ve been told by that the messenger of Allah (saws) saying”Verily, incantations amulets, and love charms are all acts in Shirk (associating Gods and Allah).’ The people replied: ‘O Abu Abdullah! We’re familiar with incantations and amulets, but what is a love-related charm? (altawlah )’?’ He responded: “It’s a sort of magical formula women employed to win their husbands’ love’.” (Related to Al-Hakim in addition to Ibn Hibban).
Imran ibn Hasin has reported in his book that the Messenger of Allah (saws) saw the wearer of a bracelet of copper on his arm. His Prophet (saws) exclaimed to him: “Woe be for you!’ What’s this? The man replied”I’m weak (al-wahinah).’ (Al-wahinah is a disease that causes discomfort in the shoulders and hands. A man was wearing copper bracelet as he believed it would alleviate his pain and suffering). The Prophet (saws) disallowed him from wearing it as it was considered to be an amulet. In the words of Prophet (saws) declared: “It will give you nothing but the pain. Don’t throw it away. Had you died while wearing it, you’d never have achieved salvation! (ie. you would’ve been in the state of shirk’s sin that’s unforgivable.” (Narrated by Ahmad)
Isa ibn Hamza said: I visited Abdullah ibn Hakim and his face was red from high fever. I told him: “Why don’t you employ an amulet to help you?’ He said: ‘We seek refuge with Allah against it. Allah (saws) the Messenger Allah (saws) stated: “Whoever wears anything as an amulet will be given with it”. (Narrated by Abu Daw’ud)
Your Concern: In Islam If I’m right it is believed that the evil eye is prevalent. It is very possible for a man to be under this “evil eye.”
Sahih Muslim Hadith 5427 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas
Allah’s messenger (saws) declared”The influence of nazar (evil eye) is a proven fact. should anything happen to precede an event that would lead to the Qadr (destiny) it would be the influence of an evil eyes.
Beloved Brother, the influence of nazar is actually a fact that has been declared and stated by only the Messenger of Allah (saws); and Allah is our witness, every statement made by Messenger Allah (saws) can be nothing but the Truth.
But one should also know and believe that evil eyes does not have any power in itself, nor can it cause harm to anyone at all without the specific Will and permission by Allah Subhanah. Thus one should not fear this evil eye but rather take a stand against Allah Their Lord, and maintain their faith and trust with Him All by Himself.
In the event that all of the wicked eyes of the world were to come together to hurt somebody, they would be able to even do it without the permission of Allah Subhanah. For all Power and all Strength rests with none save our Lord Most High, Most Exalted.
Your question: Could you recommend something from Quran which could be helpful to me.
Al-Tirmidhi hadith 4563 Narrated by Abu Sa’id al-Khudri
Allah’s Messenger (saws) used to seek shelter in Allah away from Jinn or the evil eye in men till his Mu’awwidhatan (113th Surah Al-Falaq and 114th Surah An-Naas) were revealed, following which he benefited from the two Surahs and renounced all other things.
Dear and dear Brother, if one is concerned about anyone from any angle whatever, the only recourse or dua needed is to repeat the 113th Surah Al-Falaq and the 114th Surah An-Naas. Thus, seek protection of Allah Subhanah against any and every evil approaching them; it is expected that Allah Subhanah will safeguard them from every attack.
Once one has sought refuge in Allah Subhanah they should remain in total faith and trust in the strength and power of their Lord Alone, and need not fear any danger that might be coming from a supernatural entity, or an evil eye, or other unobserved area! Allah Subhanah Alone is the protector and helper of one’s soul.
If one is faithful, follows and abides by the instructions and instructions given by Allah and His Messenger (saws) One is assured of not ever being misled; but If one believes, obeys and adheres to any other direction apart from that provided by Allah and his Messenger (saws) one can be assured of being led off the track.
Anything written that is truthful and of benefit is only due to Allahs assistance and guidance, and anything that is erroneous is of me alone. Allah Only knows the best, and is the only Source of Strength.
Your brother and well wisher in Islam.
